Every state except New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wyoming accepts the National Voter Registration Form.  You can use our Voter Registration Widget to fill the form out.  The entire process takes less than three minutes.

Military and Overseas Voters

Active duty military; their spouses and dependants; and other US citizens living overseas can register to vote and/or request an absentee at the same time using the the Federal Post Card Application. Please visit the Overseas Vote Foundation for help preparing and mailing this form.  

Offsite Recommendation:  The Overseas Vote Foundation is the most informative resource we know of for overseas voters.  They'll help you prepare your form and mail it to the correct official, and they'll keep you abreast of all relevant deadlines and laws.

• Kentucky prepares a personalized absentee ballot application for every voter who wishes to vote absentee.  Contact your County Clerk in person, by phone, by mail, or by fax and ask them to mail you an absentee ballot application.  Your spouse, parents or children can also request an application on your behalf.

MAINE

• Maine voter registration forms are not available online.  You can use our Voter Registration Widget to register to vote.
• Maine election law provides that an absentee ballot application may not be made available more than 3 months before the election for which the application will be used. The next scheduled statewide election will be held June 8, 2010. Please check back after March 8, 2010.  You may contact your Municipal Clerk for more information.

NEW HAMPSHIRE

• You can only register by mail in New Hampshire if you are unable to register in person because of physical disability, religious beliefs, military service, or because of temporary absence. Contact your town/city clerk if you need to register to vote by mail.

NORTH DAKOTA

North Dakota does not have voter registration!

North Dakota has FOUR different absentee ballot applications:

1. The North Dakota general absentee voter application (for established residents)
2. The North Dakota new resident absentee voter application (for residents who've lived in North Dakota for at least 10 days, but under 30 days)
3. The overseas children absentee voter application (for 18 year olds who have never lived in the United States, but whose parents are North Dakota Residents)
4. The overseas resident absentee voter application (for uniformed service members of North Dakota residents living outside the United States)
